So something I do between engine builds and racing is I restore the odd machine.
this one came in as a spares bike and was saved from being used as a doner for cr750 or robbed of its engine etc. Its had practically everything,
Frame checked and gloss powder coated
wheels rebuilt with stainless rims and stainless spokes for durability and ease of maintenance
hubs rebuilt with new bearings and re-finished
new front mudguard
new front caliper
new controls/switchgear/ handlebars including totally reconditioned clocks with new faces
forks stripped polished and re-built with new stanchions and seals, yokes stripped and ceramic coated
brand new fuel tank and bodywork imported direct from japan in factory correct planet blue. never seen fuel. new fuel cap and fuel tap.
new seat, new loom, rear mudguard stripped and re-chromed.
In fact anything mildly tarnished just got replaced.
The engine was in really good fettle and so the carbs were cleaned and checked over the casings and rocker covers were polished, and the crankcases were re-finished in honda silver.
The machine is currently fitted with original exhaust system which looks good, and may suit some buyers, but equally bearing in mind how many new parts are fitted the machine can be fitted with a brand new system to complement the rest of the quality of components.
