If youve read about my CR racing developments, you will understand that my race bike was never meant to be a complete factory specification or ‘proper cr’ as some would say.
The bike was built to compete in current classic F750 regulations, an original cr would fail miserably in literally keeping up, everything has moved on since back then and I was able to make the most of modern techniques and knowledge to maintain a competitive edge.
The oil tank itself came under scrutiny, and I realised that if we managed to increase capacity this would help in several ways, The increased surface area would aid cooling, and the extra volume of oil would help in the same way, giving an added benefit of better oil pressure from having acceptable temperatures, and less chance of oils breaking down etc.
So This oil tank that we sell is the best of everything, I have taken an original works honda factory tank , I kept to the same shape but tickled the sizes without compromising the look to give a better capacity.
Also, I have amended the fixing points so that they align with existing frame cross plate under the seat, so you dont have to cut all the top of frame away, (obviously purists wont like that, but I can change that when they place order.)
Finally, The filler neck is removable from tank, and this is a big help as you dont have to remove rear wheel to fit tank like you used to have to.
You will see from various pictures of CR’s in period that obviously the factory and privateers latched on to this idea very quickly as you will find quite a few pictures of bikes with large oil coolers and massive oil tanks, they obviously had the same issues.
So you can now benefit from what we learned, and coupled with decent oil, and a decent cooler you can ride as hard as you like without trashing your cam carriers or crank bearings. A good thing for anybody
Summing up, it looks like an original one, it fits better, it works better,
